We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

Under India's DPDP Act, 2023, IOwnMyCareer.co acts as a Data Fiduciary and you are the Data Principal. We process your personal data on the basis of:

  • Your consent — collected clearly at the time of account creation and for specific purposes such as marketing communications, which you may withdraw at any time
  • Certain legitimate uses permitted under the DPDP Act without requiring separate consent (e.g. where you have voluntarily provided data for a specified purpose, such as applying to a job through the Platform, compliance with a legal obligation, or responding to a medical emergency)

Where we rely on your consent, we will provide a clear notice describing what data is collected, why, and how you can withdraw consent — consent can be withdrawn as easily as it was given.

5. How We Share Information

We share information only in the following circumstances:

Recipient Purpose
Service providers / processors Hosting, analytics, customer support tools, email delivery — bound by confidentiality and data protection agreements
Job boards or employer partners Only if you explicitly choose to apply or share your profile through the Platform
Legal or regulatory authorities Where required by law, subpoena, or to protect rights, safety, or property
Business transfers In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to you

We do not share your SWOT notes, private goal reflections, or draft application notes with any third party (including potential employers) unless you take an explicit action to share them.

6. Data Retention

We retain personal data for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the Platform's services. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your data within one year (12 months), except where retention is required for legal, tax, security, or dispute-resolution purposes.

7. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit, access controls, and regular security review. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of information transmitted to the Platform.

8. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • Keep you signed in
  • Remember preferences
  • Understand how the Platform is used (analytics)

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may limit some Platform functionality.

9. Your Rights as a Data Principal

Under India's DPDP Act, 2023, you have the right to:

  • Access a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how it's being processed
  • Correct and update inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Erase your data once it's no longer needed for the purpose it was collected, or upon withdrawal of consent
  • Withdraw consent at any time, as easily as you gave it — withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before it was withdrawn
  • Nominate another individual to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of death or incapacity
  • Grievance redressal — raise a complaint with our Grievance Officer (see Section 14), and if unresolved, escalate to the Data Protection Board of India

To exercise these rights, contact us at support@iownmycareer.co. We will respond within the timeframe required under the DPDP Act and its rules.

10. Children's Privacy

The Platform is intended for users who are at least 18 years old, or the age of legal working eligibility in their jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children below this age. If we learn we have done so, we will delete it.
